William H. Cramer (1849-1935) and Ruth J. "Janie" Coggburn Cramer (1853-1902)
The Cramers came west from Taney County, Missouri, in about 1886. Family lore says they first went to Texas, then to Oregon. They were counted on the 1880 census in Oliver Twp., Taney County, next door to John Coggburn, Ruth Jane's parents. The next dwelling was the William Boston family. John Jackson Coggburn married Liza Jane Boston and they came west by wagon train in 1882, settling in Malheur County, Oregon, in 1884 (obit) before moving to Idaho.
William H. Cramer with his wife and their nine children settled on Pine Creek in 1891, where he homesteaded. Also homesteading in the area were his brother-in-law, John "Jack" Coggburn; Jack's brother-in-law, William Boston; and his daughter Vernia's future in-laws, the Lewis Paddocks. All four families came from Taney County, in southwest Missouri.
William Cramer received the homestead patent in 1912 for the Sw 1/4 of the SW 1/4of Section 25, Twp. 11 North, Range 1 East, B.M. The previous year he had finalized the purchase of the NW 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of the adjacent Section 36, a state section.
