The death of Geo. D. McGowan occurred In a Boise hospital Wednesday afternoon and came as a distinct shock and surprise to Emmett people. He had been sick for several weeks, but not seriously, and he was around town Saturday making preparations to go to Boise for an operation for gall stones, which took place Sunday. Later another operation for appendicitis became necessary and the shock proved too severe for him to overcome.
Mr. McGowan was one of the pushing young business men and progressive citizens of this city. Big hearted, jolly, happy, he was a general favorite and his untimely death has brought sorrow to Very many hearts. He had been a resident of Emmett about seven yearS and in partnership with his brother Dave had built up a thriving . . .(end of copy)
