Ruth E. Gross (1876 - 1961)
Services will be conducted Thursday at 2 pm at the Beatty chapel for Mrs. Ruth E. Gross, 81, who died unexpectedly at her home in Emmett Monday. The Rev. James White will officiate, and interment will be at Ola.
Mrs. Gross was born Nov. 6, 1879, at Kerbyville, Mo. She came west with her parents In a covered wagon in 1886. They settled first in Oregon and moved to Round Valley, Idaho, in 1887. In 1891 they moved to Ola where she married Richard Gross on Jan. 28, 1900. He preceded her in death in 1918.
Operating a ranch at Squaw Creek, Mrs. Gross also Was postmistress at the Gross Post Office for a number of years. The post office was named in her honor.
In 1949 she moved to New Plymouth and later to Emmett in 1957 where she had since resided. She was a member of the Methodist church.
She was preceded in death by four children.
Survivors include at son Vernon, a brother John Cramer, both of Emmett, a granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
